Hansen brothers dominate round four qualifying at Lydden Hill

Timmy Hansen beat his brother Kevin to the top qualifying spot for round four of the 2019 TitansRX season at Lydden Hill, with the duo sharing all of the heat wins.

It was the younger Kevin Hansen who topped the charts in Q1, winning his heat race and setting the fastest overall race time. For Q2 and Q3, the pair lined up in the same races, with Timmy winning both and also lapping fastest.

In third was round three winner Topi Heikkinen, who consistently remained in the top-five all morning. Andrew Jordan recovered from engine failure yesterday to finish qualifying in fourth, with a Q2 heat win to his name, while fellow Brit Dan Rooke rounded out the top-five.

Nelson Piquet, who dominated the wet qualifying sessions yesterday, was sixth, ahead of Oliver Webb who recovered from a track-limits penalty in Q1 to win his Q2 heat after Jerome Grosset-Janin spun out.

Ronny C’Rock was next up in eighth. The German was on target for a stronger end result but heavy contact with ‚CsuCsu‘ in Q3 hampered his progress.

Tamara Molinaro, who narrowly missed out on a maiden heat win in Q3, was ninth, ahead of ‚CsuCsu‘ and Perry McCarthy.

After a difficult day yesterday McCarthy continued to make strong race starts, but also consistently remained in the transfer spots throughout qualifying.

The final driver to advance to the semi-finals was Andreas Steffen. He beat wildcard driver Abbie Eaton who took her first heat win in Q3, leading an all-female one-two with Molinaro. However, heavy contact with a barrier in Q2 left her with a DNF and a sizeable points deficit that the win couldn’t overturn.

Also missing out on advancing was Reini Sampl, who had a big crash on the exit of Devil’s Elbow in Q3, and Grosset-Janin whose running was plagued with mechanical issues.
