TitansRX hosted its first downtown ‘Activation Event’ in Vigo, Spain ahead of rounds five and six of the season at Montelegre in Portugal.
Local fans braved the rain and gathered in the town centre to get a closer look at Andrew Jordan and Perry McCarthy’s Pantera RX6 racing cars and meet a number of the series’ star drivers including Timmy Hansen, Topi Heikkinen, Tom Coronel and Reini Sampl. Local wildcard chargers Armindo Araujo and Ivan Ares, who will both be making their series debuts this weekend, were also in attendance.
As well as getting up close to the cars and drivers, fans were also treated to fireups and stationary demonstrations of both cars, with the soundtracks from the Ford-based engines reverberating throughout town.
“It’s really interesting to see how many people have been stopping and watching, looking at the cars and taking selfies with the drivers,” said TitansRX founder and CEO Max Pucher, who was also at the event. “It’s really good fun and they all enjoyed the noise when we started up the car – there were people saying ‘yeah go on! Do more!’ It’s been really fantastic.”
The event was a first for TitansRX, and comes ahead of one of the most eagerly-anticipated events on the series calendar, with Montalegre being one of the first venues to commit to hosting TitansRX when the plans for the series were first announced.
“Montalegre has been great,” said Pucher. “Immediately when they heard about our series they called me and asked if we would come to Portugal because they knew we liked racing there.”
“We worked out a deal and here we are,” he added,. “They have been absolutely fantastic with the preparations and if the weather is good, the way it looks right now, we should have a really good weekend.”
Rounds five and six of the 2019 TitansRX season will take place at Montalegre this weekend, with a bumper bill of support action including S1600, CrossKarts, and drifting also featuring.
