Timmy Hansen dominates round six qualifying

Timmy Hansen swept the board in qualifying for round six of the 2019 TitansRX season in Montalegre, winning all of his heat races and topping the timesheets in every session.

Although he faced startline pressure in two of his three races, Hansen consistently led out of the first corner on the opening lap of each contest, and then rarely faced a realistic challenge at the front.

Kevin Hansen ended qualifying second, albeit 13 points adrift of his brother. The series points leader won his opening heat, then finished second on the road to Timmy Hansen in Q2 and Q3, setting the second fastest time in all three rounds to cap of a comprehensive display from the pair.

Third was Topi Heikkinen, who also won his opening heat, but then had to slot in behind the Hansens with all three title challengers racing in the same heats in Q2 and Q3.

Craig Breen ended qualifying fourth overall with a brace of second-place heat finishes and a win in Q3. The Irishman bettered Andrew Jordan and local wildcard Armindo Araujo who claimed a popular heat victory in Q2.

Jerome Grosset-Janin was seventh, ahead of Ronny C’Rock and Ivan Ares, while Tamara Molinaro claimed 10th after a dominant display in her final heat race to claim her first win of the weekend.

‚CsuCsu‘ and Oliver Webb were the final two drivers to advance through to the semi-finals with 11th and 12th place respectively, both scoring equal points. Webb had a race-long battle with Tom Coronel in Q3 and briefly passed the touring car ace, only to slip back by the end of the race. Nevertheless the result was enough to move him into the semi-finals for the fourth time in as many rounds.

Coronel meanwhile narrowly missed out on advancing, ending the day 13th overall, ahead of Perry McCarthy and Reini Sampl.
